Why I’m Sweating with Pride
I’m currently recovering from a back injury and plan to take on Sweat with Pride this month to raise money for our Rainbow communities.
You might ask - why on earth would I take on a physical challenge when recovering from an injury??
Because Pride is important.
Because I have first-hand experience with how difficult it can be to get the right help.
Because even New Zealand is still not entirely safe for people within the LGBTQ+ community.
I have recently been on a 6-year journey fighting major depression and anxiety. Over several years, and access to many kind medical professionals and support from loved ones, I have finally found myself in a good mental place.
Every single person deserves this kindness regardless of gender, sexuality, pronouns, preferences, physical appearance, background.. The list goes on!
I'm committed to sticking with my original goal and doing at least 60 minutes of exercise every single day this month. The types of exercises I can do may be limited right now, but that’s not going to stop me (and don’t worry I’m following physio recommendations).
This means a lot to me. Even the smallest donation or sharing my page amongst family and friends goes a long way.
Thank you for your support. ❤️
