Why I’m Sweating with Pride

I’m taking on Sweat with Pride this June to raise money for the mental and physical wellbeing of Aotearoa’s Rainbow communities! 💦🌈

My goal is to sweat for 30 minutes every day in June and raise $500. I’ll be maximising my gym membership, dipping my toes back in the pool, dancing up a storm, and even doing some challenges to make things more interesting!

Every dollar counts and I appreciate every donation, no matter the size, but as an added incentive I’m willing to humiliate myself in the name of doing good! I’m always open to new challenge ideas, but here’s some to get started:

For a $20 donation, I will do one of the following:

  • Attempt 20 consecutive cartwheels and post a video of the results
  • Learn + post a TikTok dance (your choice)
  • 20 mins on the elliptical at the gym wearing a novelty hat

For $100, I will do one of the following:

  • Dress in 80s aerobics gear for a Sunday morning Groove class
  • Wear my swimming gear (togs, goggles, swimming cap) to ballet class
  • Do yoga in a public space of your choice (library, train station, anywhere I won't get arrested)
  • Returning to my roots, attempt one of my old rhythmic gymnastics routines and post a video online
  • Skinnydip @ Breaker's Bay (in the freezing midwinter South Coast water!)
