Why I’m Sweating with Pride
Did you know? Just 21 mins of moving your body releases the endorphins needed to support good mental health?
I’m all about those kind of quick wins and so I’m taking on Sweat with Pride this June to boost my own happy levels and at the same time raise money for the extra support our Rainbow communities need in this space.
Its unfortunately still true (and we are in 2024 for goodness sake!) that there aren’t enough safe spaces at times for everyone to simply show up as themselves, and that’s a lot to carry for anyone. it’s putting lives at risk.
More than half our rainbow whānau have experienced mental illness, and one in five of our rainbow rangatahi (youth) have attempted suicide. Things need to change.
So, this June me and hubby, and a number of wonderful friends, are fighting discrimination with perspiration, and have committed to exercising for at least 21 minutes EVERY DAY to raise money to support Rainbow Kiwis.
This cause means a lot to me. I’d be SO GRATEFUL if you could chip in to help me reach my goal. Every dollar I raise will fund life-changing mental, physical and sexual health services for Rainbow New Zealanders.
Thank you sooooo much ❤️
